Kenya Simbas and Kabras RFC forward joins Currie Cup side Griffons

Kenya Simbas and Kabras RFC forward Hillary Mwanjilwa alias ‘Dj’ has joined South African Currie Cup side Griffons rugby club.

Scrummage understands Mwanjilwa who is a three-time Kenya Cup winner with Kabras has penned a one year deal with option of extending based on the season’s success.

Hillary Mwanjilwa set for debut

Mwajilwa will be making his Currie cup debut off the bench this Friday when his side takes on Lions at Welkom Stadium.

Commenting on the development, the forward said he is learning alot at the club and hoping to carry the lessons to the National team as the bid to qualify for World Cup in 2027 countinues.

“Am super excited to be here,the environment is okay and I did learn a lot in terms of training especially on scrums and line outs and I’m hoping to take this skills back home to my brother’s so that we can get a good shot at the 2027 word cup,” he told the Scrummage Africa.

The experienced forward took a moment to express his sincere gratitude to Kabras RFC

“Kabras has been a stepping stone for me, I did get all the support I needed and thank them for being there for me.”

Need for youngsters

” I also encouraged youngsters to come out and try rugby abroad for it will benefit them and help us move forward as country in 15s rugby” he added.

Mwanjilwa joins Thomas Okeyo who made his Griffons debut in April 2023.
