Kenya Simbas lost 18-7 to Eastern Province Elephants in their second Currie Cup First Division/Mzanzi Challenge match played in Port Alfred, South Africa.

Simbas were aiming to bounce back from their loss to the Rhinos and replicate their impressive victory over the Eastern Province (EP) Elephants in Nairobi last year. However, they were trailing behind at halftime with the Elephants taking a slim 10-7 lead.

The hosts had scored a converted try and a penalty, while the Simbas responded with a try of their own, when Joel Inzuga set up Hillary Mwanjilwa for try converted by Ntabeni Dukisa. The hosts then landed a penalty to secure their 10-7 lead heading into the break.

In the second half, the Simbas failed to score any points, while the EP Elephants added a penalty to move to 13 points before scoring a try off a maul to win the match 18-7.

This loss marks the Simbas’ second of the campaign, and they will face Border Bulldogs in their next match next weekend.
