Zambia are scheduled to play against Ivory Coast in the fifth place playoffs of the Barthes Trophy on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium

This match will be a repeat of last year’s 7/8th playoff, which Zambia won 22-8 to finish in 7th position.

Zambia beat Uganda in Barthes Trophy

Zambia came from behind to beat Uganda and secured their spot in the playoffs. They lead 10-7 at halftime added more points to win 21-13. Making it to the fifth place playoffs marks an improvement from their performance in last year’s campaign.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast defeated Madagascar 16-10 to advance to the fifth place playoffs. Ivory Coast were the first to score, earning three consecutive penalties before Madagascar managed to score a penalty of their own just before halftime.

In the second half, Madagascar took the lead for the first time in the game by scoring a penalty and an unconverted try. However, Ivory Coast managed to score a converted try in the very last minute of the game to secure their victory.

Madagascar and Uganda will face each other in the seventh place playoffs. Both teams have not performed as well as they did in the previous competition, with Madagascar finishing fourth and Uganda sixth last year.
