KCB II eliminate Oilers to reach another Eric Shirley Shield final

KCB II defeated Menengai Oilers 41-10 in the semifinals of the Eric Shirley Shield, booking their place in the final and setting up a chance to defend the title won in 2019 after a 11-5 win over Homeboyz.

The game, played at KCB Sports Club, saw KCB Cubs dominate from the outset, with Kolian Persian scoring the opening try to give them an early lead.

Billy Omondi then added a second try, stepping his defender to touch down at the corner, and the Oilers were only able to respond with a penalty, taking the scores to 10-3.

Festus Shiasi then split the Oilers’ defense to score a try at the centrE, and Smith Muhoya converted, taking KCB Cubs’ lead to 17-3.

Jack Adero scored the final try of the first half, with the halftime scores reading KCB Cubs 22-3 Oilers.

In the second half, John Okwatch showed off his individual brilliance with a stunning run that saw him beat several defenders and touch down for the try. Muhoya added the conversion, taking KCB Cubs’ lead to 29-3.

KCB added two tries and converted one in the final minutes to return to the final while Oilers managed a converted try.
