Kenya 7s finish 10th in Hamilton after Samoa loss

Kenya 7s finished the Hamilton 7s in 10th place after losing 26-5 to Samoa in the ninth-place playoff on Sunday at FMG stadium.

With the loss, Kenya 7s have picked up seven points (the most this season), while Samoa have eight points.

This was a rematch of Samoa’s 31-5 victory over Kenya in their Pool A opener. Shujaa eager to avenge their defeat and scored in the first minute through Alvin Otieno.

Samoa, on the other hand, would turn the tables, with Vaa Apelu Maliko scoring tries in the fourth and seventh minutes to put his team ahead 12-5 in a half in which Ronnie Omondi was yellow carded.

Motu Opetai scored the third try of the game in the second half, increasing their lead to 19-5.

Owen Niue scored the final try as Samoa grabbed another win over Shujaa.

The teams now shift focus on Sydney 7s scheduled for next weekend .
