Mwamba beat Strathmore to bounce back to winning ways

Mwamba RFC bounced back to winning ways after defeating Strathmore Leos 27-20 in match played at Madaraka Grounds on Saturday.

Leos lead by Mwamba legend and former Coach Louis Kisia scored 17 points in the first half but  threw away a 10 point advantage and ended on the losing end after 80 minutes.

The students scored the first try in the opening minute through Joseph Ayiro and Gideon Makumi drilled in a conversion for a 7-0 lead.

Eliakim Kichoi then pulled back for Mwamba, scoring a try that Brian Kivasia converted to tie the scores at 7-7. Stephen Osumba later restored Leos lead with a penalty for a 10-7 lead.

Leos would stretch their lead as Richard Omedo fed Dennis Mbila for a try that saw the side move to 17 points after Makumi’s conversion.

In the final half, Mike Okello got the second try for Mwamba before Kivasia converted for a 17-14 scoreline. Kivasia then drilled in a penalty for a 17-17 tie.

Brunson Madigu came off the bench to score another penalty for Strathmore but it was cancelled by Kivasia for a 20-20 tie.

Chrispin Omondi was hero as he scored the winning try which Kivasia converted for a 27-20 win.
