Kenya 7s have been knocked out of the Hong Kong 7s Cup contention after a 26-7 loss to Argentina in the second match of the tournament played at Hong Kong Stadium.

Damian McGrath’s charges had lost to Ireland and a second consecutive loss leaves them on two points. With two points in two matches, Kenya can only reach five points if they beat Canada in the final match of the group stage set for 9:45 AM EAT.

Argentina and Ireland are sure of a place in Sunday’s quarters having won each of their opening two matches.

 Shujaa’s bright start

Shujaa went to this clash seeking to pick the first win to revive their quarterfinal hopes and had a brighter start in the match.

After enjoying possession for a while, Vincent Onyala sold a dummy and burst through Argentina’s defence to score the opening try that was converted for a 7-0 lead.

Rodrigo Isgro would pull back for the Argentines after being fed with a short ball from close range. His try was converted to tie the score.

Argentina later stretched the lead when Agustin Fraga crossed over for a 14-7 lead.

Luciano Gonzalez made it 19-7 after touching down their third try of the match.

Kenya conceded a penalty in their own five and Matías Osadczuk quickly tapped and outmanoeuvred the Kenyan defence to score the fourth try which saw them win the match .

Kenya will now shift focus on the ninth place.
