Vihiga High School win National Prescott Cup

Vihiga High School are the National Schools Prescott Cup Champions following a 29-8 win over Kisii High School in the final played at RFUEA Grounds on Sunday.

The Western Region Prescott Champions had an impressive run in the competition and landed a try and converted for a 7-5 lead in a cagey first half.

The second half opened up more for Vihiga who added four tries and converted one for a 29-8 win, Kisii only managed to add a penalty in the final half.

In the semis, Vihiga defeated Nairobi Champions Ofafa Jericho 24-5 to reach the final.  Vihiga have ended the competition unbeaten thanks to a 26-3 win over Mang’u in the group stages.

In the second match, Vihiga got a 22-7 win over Jomo Kenyatta and finished top in their pool with a 34-0 win over Kangaru.

Kisii who topped Pool A with maximum points had a date against Jomo Kenyatta in the semis and  won 18-0 to reach the final.

Kisii’s group stage run saw them defeat Ofafa 13-12 and followed with another narrow 8-6 win over Maseno. Their final match of the pool stage saw them defeat Utumishi.

The Prescott Cup is organized by Kenya Rugby Union.
