Canada’s Senior Men’s Sevens roster has been named for the HSBC LA Sevens, the final event of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series season.

Head Coach Henry Paul’s team heads to California on the back of a seventh-place finish at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last month. They currently sit 14th in the HSBC Sevens Series standings on 34 points.

Debut

Josh Thiel will make his HSBC Sevens Series debut alongside twin brother, Jake, having enjoyed a successful stint with MLR’s San Diego Legion and impressing in training with the Sevens program in recent months. He has previous international experience as part of Kingsley Jones’ Senior Men’s 15s squad.

Editor’s pick:

“We will go to Los Angeles with the hunger to finish the HSBC Sevens Series on a high,” said Paul. “We do have a few injuries among the group, and that has opened up opportunities for others to stake their claim. We are delighted to hand Josh [Thiel] his debut, and we’re sure he will back up his selection with his performances on the field.”
