Kenya Rugby Union has confirmed Pools for the fourth tournament of the National Sevens Circuit, Dala 7s scheduled for 2-3 July Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.
Mwamba Rugby Club, fresh from winning Driftwood 7s are seeded top in Pool A. They will face off with Nondies, Nakuru RFC and hosts Kisumu RFC in Pool A.
Menengai Oilers are in Pool B and will battle with Kabras RFC, Daystar Falcons and MMUST Rugby Club who make a return after missing out during Driftwood 7s last weekend.
Pool C has defending Champions KCB Rugby, Strathmore Leos, Impala Saracens and Blak Blad.
The final Pool has former Dala 7s Champions Homeboyz who will face off with Kenya Harlequin, Zetech Oaks and Catholic Monks.
KCB won the 2019 title after defeating Menengai Oilers 30-5. The bankers scored six tries to easily defeat the Oilers. Davis Chenge, Jacob Ojee, Andrew Amonde, Michael Wanjala, Vincent Onyala, and Levy Amunga all scored tries to help the bankers win.
Homeboyz won the 2016 and 2017 titles. They defeated Kenya Harlequin 48-5 at Mamboleo Grounds in 2016. Charles Omondi scored a brace of tries while Bush Mwale, Cyprian Kuto, Alvin Otieno, Max Kang’eri and Kevin Masai also scored in the win.
Homeboyz regained the Dala 7s championship with a hard-fought 12-10 victory over KCB a year later. Ahmed Shaban put KCB ahead 5-0, but Mike Wanjala converted Oscar Okaron’s attempt to give the deejayz a 7-5 advantage at halftime.
The deejayz extended their advantage at 12-5 when Jeff Oluoch grounded the ball. Homeboyz held out to retain the Dala Sevens, with Arthur Owira landing a late try at the corner to make it 12-10.
