St Peters win Makambo Opens 15s unbeaten, Butere scoop 7s trophy

St Peters Mumias won Makambo Opens 15s following three wins in the tournament held on Sunday.

On Saturday, the former National Champions beat Onjiko 33-3 in the first match.  They later defeated St Mary’s Yala 12-0 in the second match.

On Sunday, they beat Mbale 38-0 in the final match of the round robin.

St Mary’s Yala came second after winning two of their three matches. Yala had started off the campaign with a 20-0 over Mbale in the first match but failed to go past St Peters in the second match losing 12-0.

St Mary’s Yala concluded the competition with a 10-6 win over Onjiko on Sunday. Onjiko managed a win in the competition while Mbale were winless.

In Sevens,  Butere also picked a three straight wins to become winners. Butere beating Shikunga, Mumias and hosts St Peter’s. The tournament attracted four teams in each category.

The tournaments are being used to prepare the teams for the Kenya Secondary Sports Association games which are expected to return after two-year hiatus.
