Kenya 7s suffered the second straight defeat in the Toulouse 7s Pool matches falling 38-14 to France on Saturday.

Damian McGrath’s charges headed to the match having lost 29-5 in the opener and were keen to return to winning ways against the hosts who had whipped Wales 56-5.

The hosts France led via Joachim Trouabal tries in the second and third minutes with Paulin Riva adding one conversion for a 12-0 lead.

Shujaa cut the gap by scoring a try through captain Nelson Oyoo for a 12-7 after Tony Omondi’s conversion. Alvin Otieno joined the scoresheet three minutes with a try that Omondi converted for a 14-12 lead.

The hosts came from the break re-energized and added tries through Aaron Grandidier, Trouabal and Jordan Sepho (two) to put the game beyond Kenya 7s. The loss means Kenya 7s are set to miss the Quarters for the fifth time in a row this season.

Shujaa will conclude the pool stage matches on Saturday (EAT) against Wales at 3:14.

South Africa revived their quarterfinal hopes with a 27-7 win over Spain in the second match.  Zain Davids’ brace and try each from Siviwe Soyizwapi, Ronald Brown and Bradley Blood helped the side pick the first three points. They will need to win their final match to boost their chances.

Australia also bounced back to winning ways with a 28-7 win over Scotland. Henry Hutchison, Maurice Longbottom, Josh Turner and Max Burey scored in the win.  The Aussies will also need to win their last match to boost their chances.

New Zealand, England and Samoa are unbeaten after winning their second round matches and have one foot in the last eight.
