The 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s 7s is already living up to expectations after a thrilling morning session at the Labourdonnais Sports Club in Port Louis, Mauritius.
With all teams having played two matches, clear frontrunners have emerged, while others will battle to stay in contention as the final round of pool games approaches.
Kenya Morans have hit the ground running in Mauritius, collecting two dominant wins without conceding a single point. Their campaign began with a 36-0 win over Côte d’Ivoire, powered by a Floyd Wabwire hat trick, and continued with a clinical 33-0 shutout of Ghana, where George Ooro and captain Cristant Ojwang got on the scoresheet.
RUGBY AFRICA MEN’S 7s DEFENDING CHAMPIONS STUMBLE
Meanwhile, defending champions Uganda stumbled in their opening fixture, falling 17-7 to a spirited Ghana side. However, they responded in style with a 43-0 demolition of Côte d’Ivoire, putting themselves back in contention.
With both Kenya and Uganda set to face off at 3:18 PM EAT, the Pool A crown and possibly a spot in the Cup Quarterfinals hangs in the balance.
In Pool B, South Africa beat Zambia 33-14. The Zambians opened with a 21-12 win over Burkina Faso.
