South Coast Pirates kept their survival hopes alive with a 17-0 victory over Nakuru RFC in a Kenya Cup clash at Seacrest Grounds, Diani.
The match was abandoned with around four minutes left to play. Both sides were desperate for points, with Nakuru RFC still winless after six outings, while the Pirates had secured just one victory against Strathmore Leos two weeks ago.
With the game abandoned, the referee is expected to submit a report to the fixtures committee, with the likely outcome being the result standing as recorded at the time of abandonment since it was 3/4 played.
Pirates took an early lead through a penalty slotted in by Kelly Akengo for a 3-0 advantage. The hosts then extended their lead when Collins Kabayo crossed over for a try, which Akengo successfully converted for a 10-0 halftime score.

In the second half, Pirates were awarded a penalty try following a high tackle on Sospeter Rofino, stretching their lead to 17-0. However, in the final minutes, a penalty decision in favour of Pirates did not sit well with Nakuru RFC players, leading to the match’s premature abandonment.
