Impala RFC head coach Louis Kisia credited their victory over Nondies RFC to a well-executed game plan and has emphasized that the best is yet to come.

In a tight contest without a single try, Impala’s three successful penalties secured a 9-6 win, earning them a place in the Impala Floodlit final for the first time since 2018.

Kisia acknowledges Impala RFC

Speaking to Scrummage Africa after the match, Kisia acknowledged the derby’s challenges and praised his team’s disciplined adherence to the strategy.

“The boys came to the party; we knew it would be a derby. We spent the entire week analyzing Nondies’ style of play. We reviewed their videos, did a thorough analysis, and this win is a testament to the boys sticking to the game plan we agreed on,” Kisia told Scrummage Africa.

He said Impala adopted a territorial approach, which he said worked well in the first half despite kicker Andrew Matoka struggling to reach a perfect accuracy rate.

“Unfortunately, Matoka wasn’t 100% with his kicks, but we’ll take the win,” he added.

Looking ahead, Kisia believes the team’s best performances are still to come. He expressed confidence in the squad’s preparation and eagerness to compete in the upcoming Kenya Cup season.

“We’ve completed six weeks of preseason, and the boys are ready and eager to show what Impala is made of. The best is yet to come but we take this win and say kudos,” he stated.

Impala will face Menengai Oilers in the final as they aim to reclaim the Floodlit title.
