Michael Oyoo handed Kabras RFC debut as two changes effected for Dala 7s

Kabras RFC technical bench led by headcoach Carlos Katywa have made two changes to the squad that featured at the season-opening Prinsloo 7s ahead of Dala 7s scheduled for August 1-2 in Kisumu.

Michael Oyoo Ochieng, a former student of Ober Boys High School in Homa Bay County who has also had stints with Kisii RFC and Kisii University has earned his maiden call-up to the side and is in line to make his debut, while Bryceson Adaka who is set for his first appearance of the season has also been included in the travelling squad.

The duo replaces Brian Mutua and Andrew Wangila, who featured for the Sugarmen during the opening leg of the 2026 National Sevens Circuit in Nakuru.

The rest of the squad remains unchanged, with Patrick Lumumba, Derrick Ashihundu, Roy Maruti and Jackson Sketta included.

Rayvon Ambale, Mathias Osimbo, Fredrick Wangila, Griffin Chao, Michael Lukusi, Adrian Khwesa and Eric Cantona have also retained their places.

Kabras head to Kisumu looking to go one better after finishing runners-up at the Prinsloo 7s, where they collected 19 circuit points to sit second in the National Sevens Circuit standings.

The Sugarmen opened their campaign with convincing pool victories, including a 47-0 win over Embu RFC and a 26-12 triumph over Mwamba RFC before beating Daystar Falcons in the quarter-finals and edging Nondescripts RFC 14-10 in the semi-finals.

Their run ended with a 19-12 defeat to rivals KCB Rugby in the Cup final.

Kabras have been drawn in Pool D for the Dala 7s, where they will face Strathmore Leos, Nakuru RFC and Embu RFC as they seek their first title of the season.
