Butula Boys were crowned Busia County Schools Rugby 7s champions after defeating Kolanya Boys 17-0 in the final played on Saturday.
The champions capped off a dominant campaign in which they did not concede a single point in the knockout rounds. Their path to the title began with a commanding 39-0 quarterfinal victory over Sisenye before they overwhelmed Mundika 45-0 in the semifinals to book a place in the final.
Awaiting them in the decider was Kolanya, who had impressed throughout the competition. Kolanya defeated Mathias 12-0 in the quarterfinals before overcoming Nambale 19-0 in the semifinals to secure their place in the championship match.

However, Butula proved too strong in the final, running in three unanswered tries to seal a 17-0 victory and claim the Busia County Schools Rugby Sevens crown.
In the girls’ category, Kingandole emerged champions after edging Chakol 12-7 in a closely contested final. The two sides produced an entertaining encounter, but Kingandole held their nerve to secure the county title.
Earlier in the boys’ competition, Mundika had booked their semifinal berth with a 17-0 victory over Sigalame, while Nambale squeezed past SPAHS 7-5 in one of the closest matches of the tournament.
