The stage is set for the semi-finals of the Vihiga County Secondary Schools Rugby 15s after two days of intense pool action at Chavakali High School that saw Senende, Chavakali, Vihiga and Kegoye emerge as the top four teams in the boys’ competition.
Senende will take on Chavakali in the first semi-final in the semis set for Nyangori high School while Vihiga will face Kegoye in the second semi-final, with the winners advancing to the county final.

The pool matches delivered several dominant performances, particularly from Vihiga and Senende who stamped their authority early in the tournament.
Vihiga were among the most impressive sides in the preliminary rounds, opening their campaign with a commanding 60-0 victory over Ebubayi before following it up with a 33-3 win against Nyangori. They maintained their momentum on day two, defeating Chavakali 19-6 in a crucial clash before crushing Ebusiloli 54-0 to comfortably seal their place in the last four.
Senende also enjoyed a strong run through the pools. They began with a convincing 34-0 win against Kegoye and later edged Mbale 17-5 in a closely contested encounter. On the second day, Senende produced another dominant display, thrashing Esalwa 43-0 to secure their semi-final slot.

Chavakali’s journey to the semi-finals included a narrow 5-0 victory over Nyangori before they edged Ebusiloli 20-3. Although they fell 19-6 to Vihiga on the second day, they bounced back in emphatic fashion with a 45-0 demolition of Ebubayi to confirm their place among the top four teams.
Kegoye also showed resilience in the group stage. Despite opening with a 34-0 loss to Senende, they recovered strongly with a 19-0 victory over Esalwa and later defeated Mbale 17-3 on the second day to secure the final semi-final berth.
Elsewhere, Ebusiloli managed a 13-7 win against Ebubayi while Nyangori also impressed in parts, including a 40-0 win over Ebubayi on day two.
In the girls’ competition, Madira finished top of the standings after a consistent run that included wins over Mudavadi, Goibei, Kaimosi and Tigoi. Tigoi placed second while Kaimosi finished third, with Mudavadi and Goibei completing the rankings.
