The 2025/2026 KRU Championship campaign continues to gather momentum after eight rounds, with the race for promotion and the battle to avoid relegation both taking clear shape.

JKUAT Cougars sit at the summit with 34 points after seven wins and one draw. The Cougars remain unbeaten and have built a solid +59 points difference.

Hot on their heels are Mwamba RFC with 32 points. Mwamba have secured six wins from eight outings and boast a strong +90 points difference.

In third place, Catholic Monks are level with Mwamba on wins but sit a point behind on 31. With a +97 points difference, the highest in the division, Monks have shown they can score heavily, making them serious promotion contenders.

South Coast Pirates occupy fourth position with 30 points. Their six wins and +81 points difference keep them firmly in the playoff conversation as the promotion race tightens.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Mid-table sees NYS Spades in fifth on 19 points, balancing four wins and four losses. They are followed closely by Mombasa RFC, who have three wins and a draw to sit on 18 points with a narrow -8 points difference.

Also on 18 points are Homeboyz RFC and Kisii RFC, both with four wins and four losses. Fine margins separate these sides as they push to break into the playoff bracket.

Mean Machine are ninth with 15 points after two wins and a draw, while USIU Martials remain under pressure in tenth with just one win from eight matches.

The relegation zone currently features Zetech Oaks in eleventh on 10 points and Western Bulls at the bottom with five points. Both sides face a crucial run of fixtures if they are to climb out of danger.
