Heathens, KOBs and Pirates register big wins as Mongers bring Impis back to earth

Heathens RFC responded to recent setback in Uganda Rugby Premiership with a ruthless 59-0 demolition of Warriors Rugby Club.

The visitors set the tone early when David Wako crossed over, the conversion sailing through for a 7-0 lead. Moments later, Vani Adebua extended the advantage, again converted for 14-0.

Sylvester Munguachel added the third, and another successful conversion pushed the score to 21-0. Heathens’ fourth try, also converted, made it 28-0 before Marvin Asaba dotted down and the extras were added for a commanding 35-0 halftime cushion.

The second half followed the same script. Trevor Ochan powered over though the conversion missed for 40-0. Lawrence Ssebuliba ensured the scoreboard kept ticking with a converted try (47-0), before Denis Etwau’s effort stretched it to 52-0 despite a missed kick.

The final nail came through Julius Oyuk, whose try and successful conversion sealed a resounding 59-0 victory.

Mongers RFC edged Impis Rugby Club 17-16 in one of the tightest contests of the round.

Mongers struck first with two early penalties for a 6-0 lead before Darren Aine replied with two well-taken kicks to level matters at 6-6. The hosts regained control with a penalty and an unconverted try to head into the break 14-6 up.

In the second half, Johny Okello ignited Impis’ comeback with a try that was successfully converted, cutting the deficit to 14-13. Mongers responded with a crucial penalty to stretch the margin to four points.

Aine then narrowed it to a single point with another penalty, but Impis fell just short as Mongers held firm for a 17-16 win.

Buffaloes blanked Kakira Rugby Club 31-0 in a dominant display. Kobs Rugby Club flexed their title credentials with a 50-12 triumph over Hippos Rugby Club, running in tries at will.

Pirates Rugby Club continued their strong run, dispatching Rhinos Rugby Club 45-10 in a high-scoring encounter. Meanwhile, Walukuba Rugby Club and Victoria Sharks Rugby Club shared the spoils in an evenly balanced 18-18 draw.

In the women’s league, Black Pearls Rugby Club delivered a commanding 44-0 win over She Wolves Rugby Club, underlining their dominance.

Thunderbirds Rugby Club followed suit with a 25-0 shutout against Ewes Rugby Club. The closest clash of the women’s round saw Avengers Rugby Club and Nile Rapids Rugby Club battle to a 6-6 stalemate.
