Nondies secured a 27-17 victory over Strathmore Leos in the Enterprise Cup quarter-final clash played at the Ngong Racecourse.
The hosts struck first, crossing the whitewash early to set the tone for a tightly contested encounter. The opening half was characterized by frequent stoppages, with both sides guilty of repeated infringements as centre referee Brian Nyakundi was forced to call numerous penalties.
Nondies concede
Strathmore Leos had an early opportunity to respond, but fullback Matoka failed to convert a penalty attempt. Kicking responsibilities were then handed to Arnold Muita, who successfully slotted Leos’ first points from the tee.
Despite the visitors’ efforts, Nondies maintained territorial pressure and added a penalty of their own to stretch their advantage. The hosts carried an 8-3 lead into the halftime break after a physical and stop-start opening period.
The second half resumed with Leos showing greater urgency. Muita calmly knocked over two penalties to close the gap and briefly swing momentum in favour of the visitors. Nondies, however, responded with another penalty following an infringement at the breakdown to keep themselves in front.

Nyakundi continued to keep a close watch on discipline, awarding Leos another penalty, but this time Muita’s attempt drifted off target. He would later redeem himself by slotting another penalty to keep Leos within touching distance, reducing the deficit to a single point at 12-11.
Matoka later resumed kicking duties but failed to capitalize on another scoring opportunity. Leos continued to threaten, launching a promising attack that pushed Nondies deep into their own territory, but the hosts’ defence held firm and forced a relieving penalty.
Leos’ frustrations grew as handling possession frequently resulted in costly infringements. With eight minutes remaining, Nondies missed a penalty attempt after the fly-half pushed the kick wide. However, the hosts quickly made amends when Leos were penalized for going off feet at the ruck, allowing Nondies to slot the kick and extend their lead to 14-12.
Momentum firmly shifted when Nondies dominated a scrum from a penalty, powering over for a crucial try which, after a successful conversion, stretched the score to 21-12.
Strathmore Leos responded with determination, crossing the try line to narrow the margin. However, the missed conversion proved costly as the scoreboard read 21-17.
Nondies maintained composure in the closing stages. A penalty inside the Leos 22 allowed them to extend the lead to 24-17 before sealing the win with another late penalty to secure a 27-17 triumph and progression to the Enterprise Cup.
