Kenya Cup champions Kabras RFC have roped in immediate former Kisii RFC and Kisii School head coach Lee Arstone ahead of the new season.
Arstone, a former Kakamega School player, returns to Kakamega to take up the backs coach role at Kabras, replacing Marlin Mukolwe, who has since left the club.

The coach enjoyed a stellar 2025 campaign, guiding Kisii School to a three-peat in the Nyanza region 15s, securing second place at the Nationals, and steering the side to a maiden Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSSA) 15s title.
He also led Kisii RFC to Nationwide triumph, earning promotion back to the KRU Championship. Besides this, he achieved World Rugby Level 2 (15s) coaching accreditation, marking an important milestone in his career.
Speaking to Scrummage Africa, Arstone described his move to Kabras as an honour and a defining moment in his coaching journey.
“Joining Kabras Sugar RFC, the four-time consecutive Kenya Cup champions, is a monumental moment in my coaching career and a significant honour. It means stepping into one of the most professional and successful rugby environments in East Africa,” he stated.
“For me, it’s not just a new job; it’s an opportunity to contribute to a winning culture and learn from the very best, in Head Coach Carlos Katywa and the entire management team.”

Arstone added that the move represents the pinnacle of club rugby in Kenya after his success at the school and Nationwide levels.
“It is a validation of the hard work and dedication poured into developing talent and building successful teams over the years. I am thrilled to be part of an organisation that sets the standard for excellence in the Kenya Cup,” he noted.
Lee Arstone targets
On his targets for the new role, Arstone said his focus will be on maintaining Kabras’ high standards and sharpening their backline play.
“My goal is to ensure we maintain our high standards of play and find innovative ways to enhance our attacking prowess and defensive organisation, making our backline even more lethal and efficient,” he explained.
“We have a mix of established international players and promising young talent. I will help foster the growth of these upcoming players, helping them transition into top-tier Kenya Cup athletes and ultimately contribute to the national team pipeline.”
Arstone joins a technical bench led by Head Coach Carlos Katywa, forwards coach Max Adaka, Geoff Messo, strength and conditioning coaches Richard Ochieng and Alicia Ndege, and physios Philemon Odidi and Redemptor Chepwogen.
