After Saturday’s rugby match between the Oilers and Strathmore, Oilers’ head coach Gibson Weru expressed his positive attitude towards Abukuse’s performance. He was delighted that Abukuse was fit and healthy and recognized him as a great player who displayed his strength in enabling his side to move forward.

Additionally, Abukuse played a crucial role in the defense, preventing Strathmore Leos from scoring

” Abukuse is a quality player, he’s been out for a while, and you could see that whenever he had the ball, he was taking the team forward and also, he was very useful in defense. ” Said Weru.

Coach Gibson mentioned that Abukuse had been away for a while and could improve over time. The team was looking forward to helping him develop his fitness and playing him in a different role.

Speaking about Abukuse, Weru said, “He can only get better with time. Our team will make sure that he continues to grow in his fitness. We are also planning to play him in a different position next year.”

Coach Gibson stated that they wanted to build a good combination in their team’s backline for better competition. However, he was satisfied with his side’s forward combination.

“From now on we just want to make sure that we build a combination in the backline so that we can compete. I am happy with the combination we have in the forwards, but I think our missing link has been the combination in the backs,” Weru said.
