Uganda Cranes secure win over Zambia in Victoria Cup Opener

Uganda emerged victorious with a commanding score of 30-8 against Zambia a thrilling encounter that took place at Kings Park Bwogerere.

The match kicked off with Ivan Magomu making his mark by confidently slotting in a penalty, giving Uganda an early lead with a score of 3-0. However, Zambia quickly responded with a penalty of their own, levelling the score at 3-3.

Magomu’s accuracy came to the forefront again as he capitalized on Zambian offside play, putting Uganda ahead through a penalty.

The momentum continued to favour Uganda as Shakim Ssembusi set up Eric Mula for a crucial try, with Ivan successfully adding the extra points, extending the lead to 13-3.

Magomu’s influence on the game persisted as he facilitated Timothy Kisiga for a try in the corner, further solidifying Uganda’s advantage at 18-3 at the break.

The second half commenced with a powerful start from Uganda as Byron Oketayot secured a try through determined forward play, boosting the score to 23-3

To cap off the match, the Cranes were awarded a penalty try, ultimately sealing their impressive victory with a final score of  Uganda 30-8 Zambia.
