New Kenya 7s technical bench unveiled ahead of Olympic qualifiers

The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has officially announced the Technical Bench that will guide the Kenya 7s National Team in their quest for Olympic qualification and success.

The Union has announced Kevin Wambua as the head coach while Louis Kisia has been handed an assistant coach role.

Steve Sewe has been the Team Manager role with Lameck Bogonko as Team Physio. Former Kenya 7s skipper Andrew Amonde is the Strength & Conditioning Coach with Chris Brown on board as the Consultant, Strength and Conditioning Coach. Eric Ogweno is the Team Liaison.

Wambua has been serving as the assistant coach to Damian McGrath who has since been relieved of his duties.

The first assignment for Coach Wambua and his team will be the prestigious Rugby Africa 7s tournament in Zimbabwe on the 16th and 17th of September. 4

The significance of this year’s event is further heightened as it doubles up as the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifier, adding an extra layer of importance to the team’s performance.
