Kenya 7s have finished 13th in Toulouse 7s following a 33-12 win over Japan in the 13th place playoff played on Sunday.

John Okoth gave Kenya a lead in the second minute thanks to a try that Brian Tanga converted for a 7-0 lead. Japan levelled when Taiga Ishida scored and converted.

Tanga restored the lead following his try and conversion. Edmund Anya gave Kenya the third try for a 21-7 lead heading to the break.

In the second half, Yoshihiro Noguchi cut the lead for Japan but Jeff Oluoch’s 14th minute try and Tanga’s try in the dying minutes ensured a big win for Kenya.

Kenya now shift focus to the relegation playoffs while Japan will be relegated from the competition.
