Fiji 7s Head Coach Ben Gollings has included four new players in the 13-member squad for the Los Angeles and Vancouver tournaments.

Anasa Qaranivalu, Rokoua Rasaku, Alusio Vakadranu, and Ponipate Loganimasi are the four debutantes who have earned a spot in the squad.

Gollings stated that he needed to bring new energy into the team and these players bring different dynamics to the team.

Tevita Daugunu has been named the captain for the next two legs, and he will be supported by senior players like Waisea Nacuqu and Jerry Tuwai. Daugunu said he is ready to take up the task and has the support of the core group of senior players.

The experienced hands of Josua Vakurinabili, Jeremaia Matana, and Tevita Dugunu will assist the forward pack while Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu, Manueli Maisamoa, and Iowane Teba will guide the backs.

The notable exclusions from the squad are Vuiviawa Naduvalo, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, and Alasio Naduva. Gollings emphasized that they will pick players based on their form and character and maintain a high level of competition within the team.

The Fijian 7s team is pooled with Australia, Kenya, and Japan. They will face Japan on Sunday week at 7.05 am, followed by Kenya at 10.18 am, and Australia in the final pool match at 2.05 pm.
