Kenya 7s dropped to the 13th place semis after an extra time 19-14 loss to Ireland in the Cape Town ninth place quarters played on Saturday at DHL Stadium.
Kenya will now compete against the loser of the France- Uganda match in the 13th place semis.
Shujaa had failed to pick a win in the opening three matches and dropped to the ninth place quarters after picking just four points and finished bottom in the group.
They had a bright start in the match against Ireland with the ball being shifted to the right off a ruck before Edmund Anya had a break after a dummy switch and raced on to score the first try that was converted for a 7-0 lead.
Daniel Taabu doubled the lead when he grabbed the second try that Anthony Omondi converted for a 14-0 heading to the break.
In the final half, Jordan Conroy scored a try in the ninth and 12th minute and Hugo Lennox added the extras for both tries to send it to extra time.
Conroy bagged the golden point try for the Irishmen, sending Kenya to the 13th place semis.
