Kenya 7s have been knocked out of the Los Angeles 7s Cup contention after a 40-14 loss to Australia in the quarterfinal match played at Dignity Park.
After an impressive finish in the pool, Shujaa making their third appearance in the quarters this season were keen to get to the semis for the first time this season. Their opponents Australia eyeing the World 7s Series title were seeking to do well in this quarterfinal with this being their ninth appearance in the last eight.
Bright start
Kenya started off on a high note and Alvin Otieno burst through the defence at the centre and raced to score the first try of the match which Sammy Oliech converted for a 7-0 lead.

Australia responded immediately with a try by Maurice Longbottom. Kenya were reduced to six following a yellow card to Nelson Oyoo after a lifting tackle. Australia capitalized on the one-man advantage and added a try through Henry Paterson.

In the final half, Josh Turner stretched the lead to 21-7. Paterson joined the scoresheet before Jeff Oluoch pulled back for Kenya.
Speedster Coorey Toole sealed their victory as he scored the final try of the day to end Kenya 7s hope.
Kenya will now face the USA against Fiji match at 11:25 PM.
