Kenya 7s’ dream of reaching the SVNS World Championship semi-finals once again came to an end at the quarterfinal stage after a 21–0 defeat to Australia at Estadio José Zorrilla in Valladolid.
Kevin Wambua’s charges had booked their place in the last eight after finishing as the third-best team in the pool stages. They faced an Australia side that had already beaten them 15–10 on Friday and had topped the pool.
Shujaa were caught cold early, with Maurice Longbottom crossing over in the opening minute to give Australia a fast start. The Aussies maintained their slim advantage into halftime.
