SVNS World Championship standings after Hong Kong 7s

South Africa 7s made an emphatic statement in the opening leg of the SVNS World Championship, storming to the top of the standings after clinching the Hong Kong title in dominant fashion.

The Blitzboks were in ruthless form throughout the tournament and capped it off with a commanding 35-7 victory over Argentina in the final.

The triumph marked their maiden Hong Kong crown and earned them the maximum 20 points, placing them firmly at the summit of the standings.

Argentina, who had also impressed across the competition, settled for second place after falling short in the final. Their efforts were rewarded with 18 points, keeping them within touching distance of the leaders as the Championship gathers momentum.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Spain sit third with 16 points following a strong campaign, while New Zealand occupy fourth place with 14 points. Fiji round off the top five with 12 points after another competitive outing.

Australia are sixth on 10 points, just ahead of Kenya 7s, who sit seventh with 8 points after a mixed performance in Hong Kong.

France follow in eighth with 6 points, while Uruguay (4 points), Great Britain (3 points), Germany (2 points), and USA (1 point) complete the standings.

On the women’s side, New Zealand lead the standings with 20 points after their own title-winning run, with Australia and France in second and third respectively.

The teams have two more legs in Spain and France to conclude the Championship where the overall champion will be crowned while the bottom four will head to the SVNS 2.
