KCB Rugby posted a solid 45–3 victory over BlakBlad in a Kenya Cup clash played at the Kenyatta University Grounds, producing a strong first-half performance that set them on course for the win.

KCB made a fast start, scoring six tries in the opening half to take firm control of the match. Mike Wekesa opened the scoring before Festus Shiasi added the second try soon after. One of the tries was converted, giving KCB a 12–3 lead.

Nick Okullo crossed on the far right against his former side following sustained pressure, and the conversion extended the lead to 19–3. Fidel Maina then continued his good run of form by touching down for the second match in a row, scoring between the posts. Brian Wahinya converted against his former side  to make it 26–3.

Former BlakBlad player Levy Amunga added another try after a well-executed attacking sequence on the right wing, with Wahinya again accurate off the tee as KCB stretched their advantage to 33–3.

Andy-Cole Omollo rounded off the half with a strong carry, beating his defender before grounding the ball to give KCB a 40–3 lead at the break.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

The second half was delayed due to ambulance-related issues at the venue. When play resumed, BlakBlad showed improvement in defence, limiting KCB to just one try in the remainder of the match.

BlakBlad spent periods in KCB’s half but were unable to convert possession into points, with penalties halting several attacking phases.

KCB were reduced to 14 players after Richel Wangila was sent off for a dangerous tackle, though BlakBlad were still unable to find a breakthrough. Captain Oscar Sorano was later assisted off the field after sustaining an injury after coming off

The final try came through Sheldon Kahi, who scored against his former side from a pick-and-drive near the line. Wahinya missed the conversion as KCB closed out the match with a 45–3 victory.
