Heathens RFC have made further additions to their squad as preparations continue for Uganda’s 2026 top-flight 15s season.
The yellow machine, who are keen to respond after a trophyless 2025 campaign, confirmed three new signings today, strengthening both their forward pack and backline ahead of the new season.
Jason Nuwamanya has joined Heathens from Eagles RFC after an impressive league campaign last season.
He finished with 90 league points, ranking seventh among the top scorers, and brings valuable versatility, able to play at flanker, eighth man, centre, or winger.
Speaking after completing his move, Nuwamanya said he was attracted by the competitive environment at the club, adding that training alongside experienced players has already pushed him to raise his standards.
“Heathens is a top team. I walked in, saw big names working hard, and that pushed me to want to be part of this environment,” Nuwamanya said.
He came to see what the air is like up here, and now Jason Nuwamanya is a Heathen, and he is ready.
From Eagles RFC, he arrives with 90 league points last season. That made him the 7th top scorer, so yes, he knows posts.

Heathens have also secured the signature of Arron Atoke, popularly known as “American Boy”, from Buffaloes RFC. The winger and fullback brings six years of experience from his former club as he looks to take the next step in his career.
Speaking after his unveiling, Atoke said he joined Heathens to chase bigger ambitions, noting that his focus is on winning trophies, improving as a player, and pushing closer to his dream of national team rugby.
“I decided to move to Heathens because of the goals I am chasing. I want to win trophies, improve as a player, and push myself towards national team rugby,” Atoke said.

The other addition announced today is Yusuf Waiswa, a highly versatile front-row player capable of covering loosehead prop, tighthead prop, and hooker.
Speaking after joining the club, Waiswa praised Heathens’ professional setup and clear ambitions, saying his main goal is to help the club reclaim the league title.
“Heathens is an established side with great ambitions. My focus is to work hard and help the club win the league title,” Waiswa said.

HEATHENS RFC EARLIER SIGNINGS
Heathens had earlier announced the signings of Joab Oluoch from sister club Buffaloes RFC and Emma Odoi, formerly of Hippos Rugby Club. Odoi can play at inside centre and fly-half, adding depth to their backline.
King David Wako and returning halfback Matthew Musaizi were also confirmed earlier as part of the squad additions.
Uganda Rugby’s 2026 season kicks off on 7 February, with the transfer window remaining open until 30 January as clubs finalise their squads.
