Kabras RFC claimed their first Dala 7s championship with a decisive 24-5 victory over Menengai Oilers at Mamboleo Grounds on Sunday.
This win propels Kabras RFC to the top of the National 7s Circuit standings, following their triumph at the Christie 7s earlier this season.
Kabras RFC in Dala 7s
The victory is particularly significant for Kabras RFC, who had finished as runners-up in last year’s Dala 7s final against KCB Rugby.
Their success at Mamboleo Grounds also harkens back to their 2017 National 7s Circuit title, won at the same venue.
Menengai Oilers, despite their defeat, have shown strong performance by reaching the final for the third time. Their previous final appearances were in 2019 and 2022.
In the final match, Menengai Oilers faced an early challenge when Timothy Okwemba suffered an injury and had to be stretchered off.
Kabras RFC took full advantage of the situation. Jackson Siketa scored the opening try for Kabras RFC after a turnover from a line-out, putting them ahead early.
Siketa then added a second try, benefiting from a well-executed offload, to extend Kabras’ lead.

William Mwanji further increased Kabras’ advantage with a try in the left corner. Despite a strong push from the Oilers towards the end of the first half, they could not breach Kabras’ solid defense.
In the second half, the Oilers managed a try but were ultimately outpaced as Siketa completed his hattrick as he added another try for Kabras, sealing the victory with a successful conversion.
In other results, Kenya Harlequin secured third place with a narrow 22-19 win over MMUST, while KCB Rugby finished fifth after a 31-0 triumph against Nondies.
The National 7s Circuit will continue next weekend with the Kabeberi 7s at RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
