Kenya Lionesses quartet shine Elephants in Rugby 10s Championship

Kenya Lionesses quartet Sharon Auma, Grace Adhiambo, Stella Wafula and Judith Okumu were part of Serengeti Elephants side which secured a 19-07 victory against Capetown Wilddogs in  a thrilling 10s Championship opener at Charles Morkel Stadium, South Africa. 

Judith Okumu opened the score sheet just three minutes into the play while Reene Gonzalez added the twos for a 7-0 lead.

Wilddogs would later level the matters after a defensive error by Elephants, the teams went to the break evenly matched 7-7.

Reene Gonzalez made a crucial contribution, scoring for the Elephants and extending their lead to 12-07.

The Wilddogs fought hard to narrow the gap, but the Elephants’ defence remained resolute.

As the clock ticked down, Stella Wafula showcased her prowess, landing a last-minute try that sealed the victory for the Elephants with a final score of 19-7.

Impala and Kenya Lionesses winger Auma also had an impressive run in the match as she clocked full minutes as well as Adhiambo who was also instrumental in the match.

In the second match, the side won 7-5.
