The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Board of Directors have revealed that they have reached a mutual agreement to part ways with their Chief Executive Officer, Aggrey Wabulwenyi.

The KRU expressed its gratitude for Wabulwenyi’s dedicated service to both the Union and the sport of rugby and wished him success in his future endeavors.

“The Kenya Rugby Union Board of Directors announces to all Affiliates, Partners and the rugby fraternity that it has parted ways with its  Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Aggrey Wabulwenyi, by mutual consent,” the Union announced.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Wabulwenyi for his service to the Kenya Rugby Union and the game of rugby and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” the statement further reads.

During this transitional period, the KRU has appointed Mr. Thomas Odundo, the current KRU Director of Rugby, as the acting Chief Executive Officer.

“In the interim, Mr. Thomas Odundo takes charge as the acting Chief Executive Officer,” read the statement.

Odundo brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, having previously served as an international player, coach, and administrator.

As the Director of Rugby, Odundo has demonstrated his commitment to the development and growth of rugby in Kenya. His vast experience and understanding of the sport make him a suitable candidate to lead the Union during this interim period.

Looking ahead, the Kenya Rugby Union has outlined plans to initiate a competitive recruitment process in search of a new Chief Executive Officer.

The Union aims to find a qualified and capable individual who can contribute to the continued progress and success of rugby in Kenya.
