Nondies win 2022/23 KRU Championship title

Nondies emerged as champions of the 2022/23 KRU Championship season following a convincing 24-6 victory over Kisumu RFC in the final, held at Ngong Racecourse on Saturday.

Both teams earned promotion to the Kenya Cup after winning their respective semi-final matches against South Coast Pirates and Daystar Falcons.

During the first half of the final, Nondies took a slim 5-3 lead over Kisumu after scoring an unconverted try, while Kisumu managed to land a penalty.

However, in the second half, Nondies found their momentum and scored a converted try, while Kisumu responded with another penalty, resulting in a scoreline of 12-6 in Nondies’ favor.

Nondies then went on to score two more tries, securing their victory with a final score of 24-6.

Throughout the KRU Championship season, Nondies displayed an impressive performance, winning 11 out of their 12 matches in the second tier.

The team, which has a history of 17 Kenya Cup titles and 25 Enterprise Cup titles, will now look to continue their winning streak as they move up to the Kenya Cup for the upcoming season.
