Kenya 7s will play USA in the Los Angeles 7s 13-place semis at 11:02 East African Time after losing 12-7 against Canada in the ninth place playoffs.
Shujaa had been hoping for a better result after dropping to the ninth place playoffs due to their loss against Japan. They knew that a good finish in the tournament would keep their hopes alive heading to crucial tournaments.
The match against Canada saw both teams playing strong defensively and struggling to break through each other’s lines. However, Josiah Morra managed to beat the Kenyan defense with a solo effort and passed the ball to supporting player Jack Carson, who sprinted to score a try.
Kenya had a chance to equalize just before halftime, but they lost possession.
In the second half, they had to work hard for their try. Alvin Otieno powered his way off a ruck to score the much-needed equalizer.
In the final minutes of the game, Canada managed to switch the play, and Morra took advantage of the opportunity to score a try that was converted, handing Canada the win.
