Sigalagala finish unbeaten in Western Region regular season

Sigalagala ended the Western Region regular season unbeaten after edging defending Champions Citam Kisumu 11-9 at Sigalagala Grounds on Saturday.

The side won all their 11 matches but managed just four bonus points. They end the regular season with 46 points out of the possible 55.

Against Citam , they managed just one try and two penalties to end the season on a high. Only three points were scored in the first. It was Citam’s Ramadhan Masete’s penalty that made the difference in the half.

In the final half, Centre Jeremiah Polo stretched the lead for the visitors before Elvis Imbenzi pulled back for the hosts Sigalagala. A try by substitute Mathias Ozimbo saw Siga lead 8-6.

The hosts reclaimed the lead following Masete’s second penalty. Sigalagala however soldiered on to win via a drop goal by Ozimbo.

Kibabii picked the eighth win of the season to move to 36 points after pipping Mbale 20-18. Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Siaya got wins.

Kisii and Maseno played to a 22-22 draw.
