It’s all System go as a total of 12 teams are set to take part in the first-ever Diani Beach Junior 7s rugby slated for Saturday 12th and 13th November 2022 at the Safari Beach Hotel, Diani.
The 9:30 am Kick off tourney is hosted by KRU championship side South Coast Pirates. Majority of high school teams in Kwale county among them KSSSA Kwale county champions Shimba Hills, and 2017 Coast regional sevens champions Kaya Tiwi high school under the tutelage of Pirates assistant captain Cliphod Odhiambo have confirmed their participation.
Kwale high school and Waa boys are other high school set to compete,also joining the list is Likoni RFC, South Coast Pirates Academy, Ramisi, Mombasa boys, Tradewinds and Mvindeni.
The two-day event will consist of teams of under 18 and u12 both boys and girls.
The main aim of the tournament which is set to be run on an annual basis is to nature young talents that will, later on, join South Coast Pirates which stands to be the most decorated rugby club in the coast region.
The format will be league-based over two days with each team playing seven games.
