Otieno Oyoo Secondary School have booked their place in the final of the 2026 Kisumu County Schools Rugby 15s championships and are now awaiting their opponents after the second semi-final between Maseno School and Nyabondo was abandoned due to bench trouble.
The incident occurred with just 11 minutes left in the second half when Maseno were narrowly leading Nyabondo 5–3 before the match was stopped, leaving tournament officials to determine how the fixture will be concluded or resolved.
Otieno Oyoo proceed
Otieno Oyoo secured their place in the final after a commanding 22–0 victory over Thurdibuoro in the first semi-final, capping off an impressive run throughout the tournament.
Their journey to the semi-finals began on the opening day with a 21–0 win over Magwar Model before they followed it up with a dominant 40–0 victory against Lions to top their pool. On the second day, Otieno Oyoo continued their strong form with a 13–5 win against Maseno, a result that further underlined their title credentials heading into the knockout stage.
Thurdibuoro also impressed in the pool stages to reach the last four, highlighted by a 17–0 victory over Onjiko, but they were unable to break down a well-organized Otieno Oyoo side in the semi-final.
In the other semi-final, Maseno and Nyabondo were locked in a tight contest. Nyabondo had earlier shown their attacking prowess with a 59–0 demolition of Onjiko on the opening day and an 8–0 win against Thurdibuoro before beating Kisumu Day 13–0 on the second day to secure their semi-final berth.

Maseno, meanwhile, had begun their campaign with a 29–0 victory over Muhoroni and a 22–0 win against Magwar Model. They later suffered a narrow 13–5 loss to Otieno Oyoo in the pool stages but still advanced to the semi-finals where they held a slim advantage before the match was halted.
With the outcome of the Maseno versus Nyabondo clash still under review, Otieno Oyoo now await confirmation of their opponents in the final.
In the girls’ category, Sigoti emerged as the county champions after a strong showing across the competition. Jans Academy finished second while Lions secured third place. Kisumu Girls placed fourth, followed by Koru Girls in fifth. Migingo finished sixth, Sinyolo seventh and Kuoyo eighth in the final standings.
