Kabeberi 7s awards: Brunson Madigu named MVP, Amunga scoops points scorer gong

Strathmore Leos’s Brunson Madigu scooped was named the Most Valuable Player award at the Kabeberi 7s held on Saturday and Sunday at RFUEA Grounds.

Madigu was instrumental and scored five tries in the tournament as Strathmore Leos went on to reach the final on Sunday.  The player also scooped the Most Promising Player award in the tournament.

Madigu a former Laiser Hill student made his National 7s Circuit debut in 2019 with Homeboyz where he made impressive displays as the side went on to finish third in the season. He moved to Strathmore in 2021.

Jacob Ojee and Kabras RFC’s Keith Embwaga were the joint top-try scorers bagging six tries each in the two-day tournament.  They beat the likes of Geoffrey Okwatch, Madigu, Brighton Bakasa and Austin Sikutwa who managed five tries each.

Philemon Olang, Mike Okello and Moses Begi had four tries in the tournament.

Amunga was the top points scorer with 39 points. He finished top ahead of Embwanga who had 38 points and Ojee and Festus Shiasi who tied at 30 points.
