Kenya 7s endured a disappointing run in Vancouver, finishing last in the tournament after a 19-14 loss to Ireland in the 11th place playoff.
This marked Shujaa’s lowest finish since their return to the World Sevens Series under coach Kevin Wambua.
Kenya 7s losses
Wambua’s side had suffered four consecutive losses, dropping to the 11th place playoffs following a defeat to Uruguay.
Seeking redemption, Vincent Onyala gave Shujaa an early lead by scoring within the first minute, with Anthony Mboya Omondi converting for a 7-0 advantage.
Ireland quickly responded, with Dylan O’Grady crossing over for a try, and Mark Roche’s conversion tied the game at 7-7 after four minutes.

Before halftime, Ireland stretched their lead when O’Grady added another try, making it 14-7.
In the second half, Ireland received a yellow card, and Shujaa capitalized on the numerical advantage.
Co-captain Samuel Asati scored the equalizing try, which was converted, bringing the score to 14-14 with just two minutes remaining.
Despite their hopes of turning the game around, Shujaa allowed Bryan Mollen to cross for a late try, handing Ireland a 19-14 victory.
The focus now shifts to late March 28-30 during Vancouver 7s.
