Rift Valley varsities triumphed over Daystar Falcons by two points in the Impala Floodlit Varsity semi-final, after five successful penalty kicks by Eric Ogutu in the second half at the RFUEA.
The match started with Rift Varsities taking an early lead from an unconverted try by Wallace Onyango, who was later booked and sent off.
Daystar responds
Daystar responded with two penalties scored by their fly-half Eddy Wambugu, allowing them to regain the lead. Elvis Sande then added five more points from a try, bringing the halftime score to 11-5 in favour of Daystar after his stole the ball as Eugene Lubanga attempted a chip over.
In the second half, Eric Ogutu from Rift Varsities scored four penalties within ten minutes, giving his team the lead for the second time.

Eddy Wambugu managed to score a try and converted the extras to reclaim the lead for Daystar. However, Rift Varsities fought back, and in the final minute they won a penalty which Ogutu drilled in three more points from another penalty.
Ultimately, Rift Varsities advanced to the Impala Floodlit Varsity final, securing their place by just two points over Daystar Falcons.
