KSSSA National 15s: Butula-Kisii share spoils, All Saints, Mang’u pick wins

KSSSA National 15s defending Champions Butula Boys were forced to share spoils with Kisii School on day one of the matches held at Machakos School.

The first day saw two fixtures from each pool being played, in pool A, Butula Boys faced Kisii School before St. Patrick’s Iten had their play against All Saints Embu.

The day one Pool B clash saw Lenana School taking on Kitondo School before the Coastal champions Marafa Boys took on Mang’u High School.

KSSSA National 15 Pool A

The clash between the National defending champions Butula Boys against Kisii School in the first pool A game was rather intense with none of the teams managing a point after the full-time whistle. The school seemed to be troubled with playing surface was slippery.

The second match of the pool saw St. Patrick’s Iten taking on hosting region champions All Saints Embu in a rather exciting encounter.

In the first half of the game, St. Patrick’s Iten controled the game and secured a penalty before the half time whistle to lead the scores 03-00.

In the second half, the Eastern Region champions came back with a winning will as they managed three well converted tries to lead the scores 21-03 before the Saint Patrick’s managed a widely converted try to raise the scores and narrowing the gap 08-21.

To seal their win, All Saints Embu managed two well taken penalties to boost their score 27-08 before the full-time whistle.

Having managed a bonus, All Saint have four points in the pool while Butula and Kisii have one point each.

KSSSA National 15s Pool B

The day one pool B clashes featured Lenana School taking on Kitondo School before Marafa Boys took on Mang’u high school.

Kitondo managed to win their first National win against Lenana School as they managed a narrow 17-16 victory.

Kitondo School qualified for the Nationals as the runners up in the Eastern region finals after they lost the finals to All Saints Embu.

The second pool B match saw Mang’u High School manage a try which was widely converted to hold on to a 05-00 lead against Marafa Boys High School.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Mang’u High stretched their lead with yet another unconverted try to change the scores 10-00.

In the dying minutes of the game, Marafa were awarded a penalty and going for the tee they managed three points to tally the scores 10-03.

Mang’u established a final minute play which saw them sealing their play with a well converted try to change the tally 17-03 before the final whistle.

In Pool B,  Mang’u School are top in Pool B with three points alongside Kitondo. Lenana have point.

The day two fixture will see All Saints Embu taking on Kisii School in their second pool A match as Butula Boys seek redemption against Saint Patrick’s Iten.

Second pool B fixture will see Mang’u High taking on Kitondo School as Marafa take on Lenana School.
