Kabras RFC completed an undefeated regular season with a hard-fought 14-10 victory over KCB Rugby in the final match played at Kakamega Showground.

Despite already securing a home semi-final and potential final, Kabras maintained their unbeaten record, finishing the season with an impressive 54 out of 55 available points.

Kabras RFC backs missing

Contrary to the announced squad, several key backline players were still missing.  Kabras relied on returning players Brian Tanga and Walter Okoth, with notable absentees including Jone Kubu and Derrick Ashihundu.

The match began with KCB Rugby stunning the home crowd as Darwin Mukidza exploited Kabras’ defence to score a try, which Trevor IOdawa converted to give KCB a 7-0 lead.

However, Kabras fought back and responded, with skipper George Nyambua crossing over for a try. Ntabeni Dukisa missed the conversion, leaving the scores at 7-5 in favor of KCB.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

KCB suffered a setback when Festus Shiasi was sin-binned for a high tackle on Ntabeni Dukisa, giving Kabras an opportunity to take the lead, which they capitalized on through a Dukisa penalty, ending the first half 8-7 in Kabras’ favor.

In the second half, Kabras extended their lead with Dukisa successfully converting two penalties within five minutes, bringing the score to 14-7.  The second half saw both side receive yellow cards with Walter Okoth and Kolian Persina being sent off for 10 minutes.

Despite KCB’s efforts to narrow the gap with a penalty from Mukidza, the match turned into a kicking battle, and handling errors prevented either team from scoring further tries. The final score remained 14-10 in favor of Kabras RFC.
