National Champions Butula High win Busia county 15s title

National Champions Butula High School rugby team put up a stellar performance by securing a 57-3 win over Mundika Boys to claim the Busia County Rugby 15s title.

The Libondo Shimenga charges had a 100% record running over their opponents up to the finals, in their first match Butula hit Amukura 45-00, beat Mundika 14-00 and whipped Makunda 63-00 to enter the semi-final where they handed Sigalame a 33-00 defeat to reach the finals.

Meanwhile, in other matches played Sigalame were held to a barren draw by Nambale in the first match while Kolanya managed a 03-00 win over Alupe.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Makunda were handed a 14-00 defeat by Mundika,Sigalame picked a 05-00 win over Alupe, Kolanya beat Nambale 6-0 before being held to a barren draw by Sigalame and in the last match Alupe managed a 05-00 win over Nambale.

At the semi-final stage the match pitting Mundika and Kolanya was decided through kicks after being level at 00-00 Mundika emerged with a 2-1 victory after the kicks and Sigalame had a 28-00 victory over Kolanya after being edged out by Butula in the semi-finals.

Qualified teams will head to Vihiga County for the Western Region games.
