Kenyatta University Grounds maintained its reputation as a challenging venue for visiting teams as Blad Blad secured a hard-fought 9-3 victory over Kenya Harlequin, bringing an end to Quins’ unbeaten start to the season.

Despite Quins being the favorites, having won their first five matches in the top tier with an impressive 23 points, Blad Blad managed to upset their rhythm.

The latter had previously secured a single victory against Mwamba and had remained undefeated on their home turf, even staging a comeback to draw against Nakuru RFC.

The match proved to be a tense and closely contested affair, devoid of any tries, and the second half ended with just an additional three points on the board. Both teams heavily relied on penalties to secure their scores.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

The first points of the game came from the boot of fullback Dennis Gitau in the ninth minute. Amon Wamalwa of Kenya Harlequin managed to level the scores with a successful penalty kick 22 minutes later.

Just two minutes before halftime, Dennis Gitau added another penalty for a slim lead. In the second half, they held on stronger with Gitau adding a three-pointer in the 50th ultimately securing the victory and earning them four crucial points from the encounter.
