The varsity side dominated the game from kickoff against the newbies, as they continued with their quest for Championship promotion.

The second half saw Kibabii put the nail on the coffin as they scored four tries with two conversions against Kimobo’s single converted try, to win the game 46-13.

Chairman’s call

Kibabii chairman Meshack Nyambane hailed his team’s performance but insisted much is to be done in elevating Nationwide league games.

“As a host, I believe rugby festivals are the way to go for Nationwide Clubs. We have poor visibility, and our playing grounds and officiation have always been in doubt. Coupled with poor funding, clubs must be supported to congregate at one venue. This makes it more attractive to fans and I believe out of this we shall get corporate support in terms of sponsorships” he said.

In the second half, Vihiga Granites put up a spirited fight in the second half in a bid to overturn the scores, they began on a high by scoring a penalty through Stanley Osotsi to bring the scores at 24-08.
