Kibabii University kick-started their 2023/24 Nationwide campaign with a resounding 46-13 win against Kimobo in a fixture played at Kibabii University Grounds.

The varsity side dominated the game from kickoff against the newbies, as they continued with their quest for Championship promotion.

A dominant first half saw Kibabii score four tries and one conversion against Kimobo two penalties which ensured the varsity side bonus point, going into the break with a commanding 22-6 lead.

The second half saw Kibabii put the nail on the coffin as they scored four tries with two conversions against Kimobo’s single converted try, to win the game 46-13.

Chairman’s call

Kibabii chairman Meshack Nyambane hailed his team’s performance but insisted much is to be done in elevating Nationwide league games.

“As a host, I believe rugby festivals are the way to go for Nationwide Clubs. We have poor visibility, and our playing grounds and officiation have always been in doubt. Coupled with poor funding, clubs must be supported to congregate at one venue. This makes it more attractive to fans and I believe out of this we shall get corporate support in terms of sponsorships” he said.
