Kenya Simbas utility back Jone Kubu was named the Man of the Match in their 36-12 victory over Zambia in the Victoria Cup.
The match, held at Kyadondo, witnessed Kubu’s outstanding performance as he scored a try, provided two conversions, and assisted in another try through a kick pass to Joel Inzuga, contributing nine points to the team’s win.
Remarkably, this is the second time that Kubu has earned the Man of the Match award against Zambia. In 2021, during his second appearance for the Simbas, he put on an exceptional performance, amassing a total of 18 points and securing the same title.

Kubu’s consistent excellence has been evident since his debut, earning him multiple Man of the Match awards. His contributions helped the Simbas achieve success in the Rugby Africa Cup in 2022, although he missed the Repechage due to an injury sustained during training. Furthermore, Kubu has been a key player in the local league, playing a pivotal role in Kabras’ acquisition of three Kenya Cup titles.
